“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2 Timothy 4:3-4

Everywhere you look these days there is controversy over something. The two hottest pots on the stove right now seem to be politics and abortion. Mix them together and the soup tastes bad. Throw in a little religion and you’ve really got a recipe for disaster. And it’s happening all around us.

Turn up the heat

Everyone, everywhere has an opinion on these topics and theirs is the right one. The fact is, Proverbs 21:2 says that ” Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.” Jeremiah 17:9 talks about man’s heart. It says, “ The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

“Men do not reject the Bible because it contradicts itself, but because it contradicts them.” ~ E. Paul Hovey

There is so much I could say about these three topics. But I’d like to keep it as short as possible. I’ll just say that I see people believing what they want to believe. Perhaps to ease their own consciences, perhaps to gain power, or money, or any other reason. Many people do not find it easy to stand for the truth even when they recognize it to be truth. Many find God’s standards too uncomfortable and inconvenient. It’s far more comfortable and convenient to do what seems right in their own eyes and suits their lifestyle the best. They have “itching ears” and actually go looking for reasons to backup what they want to believe.

Whose report will we believe?”

We can argue and defend, we can lay our case and give our reports; we can “split hairs” all we want about pro-life/pro-choice, abortion, late term abortion, infanticide, politics, elephants and donkeys, but in the end “whose report will we believe?” (Isaiah 53:11)

For me, this is the bottom line: Some say “it’s about my right to choose”. In Deuteronomy 30:19 God put before man life and death. Then he told them the right answer. He said, Choose life.”

Here’s a news flash: there are only two masters at work on this earth, not three. You’ll either serve God or you’ll serve Satan. We think we are a third power, that we can do it God’s way, Satan’s way, or our own way. Wrong. We are servants and we are serving one power or the other. Take your pick.

God IS Life. He created life. He gives life. He tells us to multiply and bring forth life. He tells us to choose life.

It’s no use arguing with God. You won’t win.

“Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity]. Not so the wicked [those disobedient and living without God are not so]. But they are like the chaff [worthless, dead, without substance] which the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked [those disobedient and living without God] shall not stand [justified] in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous [those who are upright and in right standing with God]. For the Lord knows and is fully acquainted with the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly [those living outside God’s will] shall perish (end in ruin and come to nought)”. ~Psalm 1
